James Alexander Gordon to retire

Fri Jul 26, 2013 2:18 am

In a very sad day for British football fans (which may mean nothing to those overseas), James Alexander Gordon , who has been reading the classified football results on various BBC stations for the past 40 years has had to retire due to surgery to remove his larynx after being diagnosed with cancer. Although he can still speak, his voice is no longer strong enough to broadcast.

It's a mighty shame. Sports Report won't be the same without him.

You forget how many of us in other countries grew up listening to the BBC. No one else read the scores quite the way that he did so I agree that he will be missed though I do know a few people that found his style annoying
