FA Cup 2019

Mon Jan 07, 2019 7:57 pm

A bunch of Premier League exits so far:

Leicester City
Cardiff City
Huddersfield Town
Fulham
Bournemouth

With one of Liverpool and Wolves to join them, and Southampton and Newcastle with a replay to negotiate. Only one none league side left sadly, which is Barnet from the Conference.

Liverpool have put out a very young side, with some experienced but lacking match fitness squad players, Wolves have a good chance of going through.

It's been an awful game, but Liverpool especially have been dire. Looks like Mane and Salah will be coming on to save the game.

I rather like the idea of getting Arsenal in the fourth round.

Hmm tough draw but what else is new?

Would you prefer a win in this game or a win in todays league game v Spurs?

Personally I would take the Cup win. it would leave us only 4 more wins away from a major trophy (and tying Arsenals record wins tally), whereas a win at Spurs would be nice but isn't a major factor on our league season overall (which Ive virtually written off) and anyway I still have a lingering hope that Spurs could snatch the title from the Berties and the Dippers!!

Probably the cup win, although a win at Spurs would put us level with Arsenal and only 6 points off top 4, which would really keep the pressure on.

That should be Wimbledon through now!

On current form, this is a winnable trophy for us.

Always loved the FA cup and its definitely our best chance of a trophy!

Do you know that, as things stand, there are only 5 PL teams in the 5th round draw!

United, City, Watford, Wolves and Brighton. Admittedly it's likely that Chelsea and Spurs (or Palace) will go through tomorrow but that still only leaves 7 PL teams and only 4 "likely" winners!

Just hope you don't need VAR to keep you in the game, I think the funniest thing yesterday was the Milwall manager shouting at the directors box to get the goal replay taken off the big screens at the ground, it clearly showed that their 'equaliser' was handball :D

I wonder if Michael Oliver had nightmares last night :D

That's Spurs out then!

With two ties left, there are 7 Premier League teams left in the draw, although Wolves and Brighton need to navigate a replay first, and Chelsea are still playing. Chelsea are currently leading though.

The lowest ranked team left in the draw are Newport of League Two who will need to overcome Middlesbrough in their replay

Swansea City (2)
AFC Wimbledon (3)
Shrewsbury Town (3) or Wolverhampton Wanderers (1)
Millwall (2)
Brighton & Hove Albion (1) or West Bromwich Albion (2)
Bristol City (2)
Derby County (2)
Doncaster Rovers (3)
Chelsea (1) or Sheffield Wednesday (2)
Watford (1)
Middlesbrough (2) or Newport County (4)
Manchester City (1)
Barnet (5) or Brentford (2)
Portsmouth (3) or Queens Park Rangers (2)
Manchester United (1)
Crystal Palace (1)

Point of order Mr Dante. Lowest ranked team still in are Barnet of Tier 5 :P

Chelsea won their tie btw. However there will only be 4 teams from the top half in the PL in the last 16 of the cup (Utd, City, Chelsea & Watford) - whats the betting we get City or Chelsea away in round 6!

I'd say that in 6 weeks or so we should have a fair idea whether or not Ole will be getting the job permanently and also whether there's anything left of our season.
