Mario Mandzukic

Sun Aug 04, 2019 3:46 pm

Manchester United are on the brink of completing the signing of Mario Mandzukic from Juventus
.
The Croatian striker has agreed personal terms with United until 2022 and will earn £6.2million a year - a 35 per cent increase to the wage he was on at Juventus.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees Mandzukic as the ideal replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who is still expected to leave before Thursday's deadline.

Lukaku is currently part of a swap deal for Paulo Dybala, but should the Argentine reject a move to Old Trafford, Juventus will still try to land the striker.
The Serie A champions will either reinvest the money from Mandzukic's sale, which is believed to be in the region of £15m, or may incorporate him into a swap deal for Lukaku.
Juventus were more than willing to offload Mandzukic this summer after it was determined he would not suit Maurizio Sarri's style of play.
After holding conversations with the Juventus manager and high-ranking officials at the club, the 33-year-old was happy to agree to leave.

Juventus will try to sign Romelu Lukaku even if Paulo Dybala rejects swap move to United
His transfer to United is virtually done and should be finalised over the coming days.
All that is left is to see if Juventus will ask for payment upfront or include him plus cash in an offer for Lukaku.
That decision hinges on Dybala's response to United, who remain in talks with the forward.
The two clubs have a good relationship so United would be willing to deduct Mandzukic's value off their asking price for Lukaku.

I really like him, but he is already 33. Gives us a different option up front though, especially if Lukaku leaves.

This deal is supposedly dead also - which I'm thankful for
