Dybala - Lukaku Swap Deal "disagreed in principle"

Tue Jul 30, 2019 11:15 pm

Manchester United and Juventus have agreed a swap deal in principle involving Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku, according to Sky in Italy.
Sky In Italy understand the deal now needs an agreement between United and Dybala for the swap to go ahead.

Speaking after Tuesday's pre-season win over Kristiansund, United manager OIe Gunnar Solskjaer would not be drawn on a potential deal for Dybala but confirmed new arrivals could be in the offing.
"I'm not here to talk about any rumours or speculation about other team's players," said Solskjaer.

But of course, we're working on one or two cases, as I've said before.

"There's another 10 days before we start the league and hopefully we can announce a fresh face or two."

Dybala's future has been the subject of plenty of recent speculation - with United keen to recruit the versatile Argentina international.

Dybala, who has scored 78 goals in 182 Juventus appearances since joining the club from Palermo in 2015, is expected to return to training on Thursday following his Copa America exploits with Argentina over the summer.

Not a bad deal if we manage to get this over the line!!

Last I heard was that Dybala isn't yet convinced.

Who reported that Bruno is agreed in principle though? I'd take that with a huge bucket of salt as suspicion as no reputable source (e.g. Skysports, BBC) have said that.

Yup .... Right now the agreement is supposedly between the 2 clubs. Dybala needs to agree to it for it to hold any water. His agent reportedly flying in is a good sign.

Now being reported it is agreed between the clubs so United don't have to pay any money out which must suit them

However Dybala is asking to be paid net which before tax means north of £300k a week
He is a good player but hasn't made a top player impact at Juventus that this sort of salary commands
I suspect it will come down to Matt Judge and Ed Woodward's commercial test as to how many shirts he will sell and how happy Adidas will be
I suspect this may be the end of the Maguire deal as there will be no cash left

The reality though is that at the moment with a week and a bit to go we have not heard a peep from the club about policy, targets etc
Just Ole jumping about at every press conference since May when he has gone from "There will be a massive clearout" through "i will give them one more chance" via "Let's see who impresses me in pre season" to get to "We are hoping to get a couple of deals over the line"

I personally am none the wiser but can only look like you guys day to day
Currently yet another shit transfer window but that could all change quickly
Wait and see

I wouldn't hold my breath

Clear that Maguire deal was reliant on the Lukaku money and now we're not getting money for him. Dybala would instantly be our best player but how the fornicate we havent wrapped up Maguire is beyond me

As much as I like Lukaku, this seems a mad deal.

now being reported that the Lukaku/Dybala deal is dead but i assume it can only be specualtion

On a more guaranteed note Brendan Rodgers has said United still have not offered enough to open a conversation between the two clubs
He says United have not increased their offer of £70m against an asking price of £90m and as such there is nothing happening and Leicester don't need to sell and would rather not sell.
I suspect if Leicester dropped their asking price to £80m it might give Woodward a panic attack and he would be forced to reduce the offer to £60m
Don't worry Ed only another week to ride it out

Maybe, just maybe this is how the Maguire deal is to be funded
They can now sell Lukaku for say 50/60 m and use that towards the 80m I know they have paid for Maguire
They will then claim that Ole has been backed to/spent 150m which will forget what they got for Fellaini and Lukaku and how much they have saved on wages on Herrarz Valencia Lukaku Carrick and Fellaini
Glazernomics diatribe

There maybe one more signing, but dabala and his agent is being greedy.

350k plus 16.5m plus Lukaku. Walk away coz we been paying crazy money for nothing on many players.

I don't think Dybala is being greedy
He doesn't want to join an average team with no ambition playing happily in the Europa league
The price he is asking is compensation money for taking a massive step down and effectively ending his career
Put simply he doesn't want to join so he is making it impossible
That suits Ed Woodward who,i believe is desperate to sell Lukaku for cash only
I am very confident Lukaku is going and for me it is just how much cash can United get to offset what they have paid for Maguire
