Old Trafford a dump ?

Tue Apr 09, 2019 9:49 pm

The state of OT has been revealed in a report by Daniel Taylor of The Guardian

In it he highlites the leaking roof of the Bobby Charlton stand, the fact no real money has been spent on it since the Glazer take over, out of date toilets, and concourses.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/bl ... -spotlight

There is also the claim that despite it's size it is no longer considered a venue for European finals, and with all of United's rivals grounds getting considerable investment and rebuilding, it is time for United fans to realise that OT needs to go through a similar transformation, which would allow expansion of the South stand if complete demolition were considered and the pitch moved northerly, in a similar way that Spurs have expanded WHL.

This is Glazernomics at its most typical and i suspect that very few, especially on this forum, care

The Glazers are only interested in short term investment of somebody else's money for immediate profit for them
You see it time and time again in Tampa where they threatened to move the club lock stock and barrel to another city if Tampa refused to build them a new stadium.

With United they refuse to pay for anything that does not turn an immediate profit
That is everything from the groundsman being unable to buy new heat bulbs to replace the old broken ones to grow the grass on the pitch faster to make a better playing surface right through to the official club photographer Jon Peters being unable to change the lens on his camera to a modern with

they have invested in tarmacing the car parks around the ground and opened new gates to make access easier but at £10 a car a game that pays back very quickly
They are investing in 2 of the lounges this year. These are lounges that have not had a coin spent on refurbishing, decorating or any general maintenance since the Glazers took over
They joke in my lounge,The International lounge that we need an official tape sponsor as there is that much tape sticking and holding the threadbare carpet together
That said they are increasing ticket prices for this lounge by £800 per ticket thus raising an extra £1.5 million. So they can hardly be seen to be investing the Glazer money

No you will not hear a word from Old Trafford as usual
they don't care who gets wet as long as it is not Ed Woodward or Richard Arnold or Avram Glazer on the odd trip he makes
The tourists and pilgrims don't know what to expect or moan about
This club is not prepared to invest in the ground on the off chance they get a prestigious game at the ground

Let's face it they don't even invest in players unless they are commercially viable

The penny(or cent) will drop one day with what you refer to as "the fans"
The Glazers have all the in house staff referring to them as "customers"
Tells you all you need to know

Spanish press having a field day
They say the ground and the team are both tired but not as nicely as that
The Glazers don't give a fornicate though
