Fiji Time Zone

Fri Mar 08, 2019 11:03 pm

I need some help from anyone who lives in (or close to) the Fiji time zone. I will be there Arp 1st - 15th and have been trying to determine the local time that the Premier League games start.

Thanks

Fiji has a time zone which is quite easy to handle. It's 12 hours later than in the UK (GMT+12 hrs).

A rather funny fact is that as this archipelago is situated just west of the date line its eastern neighbouring territories have the same time yet trailing by one day (GMT-12 hrs) so maybe you'd better take note of that as well.

To cut it short you only have to switch am/pm hours.

SUBXERO - Thank you, I think I should be able to handle GMT +12. We ran into the issue of booking flights that cross the date line trying to determine which day we would be landing - basically we lose March 31st going but returning only take about an hour.

Thank you

To potentially throw a spanner in the works, in April we will be on BST, so I guess you need to find out if Fiji does daylight savings.

That was a good hint but I did check it too. In Fiji DST ends on the last Sunday in January.

In Arizona we don't adjust the clocks so that never really been an issue but I'll keep it mind on our trip. There are really only two game that I have to look out for; Wolves on Apr 2nd @ 11:45 GMT and West Ham on Apr 13th @ 9:30 . The United web site used to have a feature which would convert start time to any location and I'll try using that, I would hate to be up dat midnight only to discover I am on the wrong day.

Let me know how it is, one of my potential honeymoon locations

If you download the app Livescore, it tells you your local times of all games in every league in the world

Brutal flights getting there and returning but more than worth it. The Fijian people are wonderful and totally make the trip a great experience, great water fun just about everywhere, the weather was terrific and the scenery outstanding. Next time (there will be a next time) we will spend a few days on Denarau island and then take a small ship cruise around some of the other islands.

If you can make it happen I thin you will enjoy it.

Awesome, glad you had a good trip. How long were the flights for you? Longest I have done was just under 8 hours and I was ready to lose my mind.

From LAX it's 11:30 hrs and from SFO it's 11:00 hrs. We had friend joining us from Chicago and their total travel time including stopovers was 18 + hrs.

There is little that I find pleasing about travel these days it's just a matter of getting between point A & B trading off time for the amount it costs - oh well it doesn't appear to stop me.

Yeah I've got a 20 hour day on Tuesday and approximately a quarter of that will be trying to get through the US border.

Yeah, sadly. Just got some sleeping tablets for the flight home. Have never taken them before but I don't sleep on planes so this might help.

11 hours I could probably do, but I would be closer to that 18 hour mark. I guess you just have to go long enough to make it worthwhile.

Next time we will probably spend a couple of days in Hawaii to help break up the trip. We spent 13 days on the island and that was about right.

You should try living in Australia, unless I'm going to Asia, 8 hours would be our shortest flight

Over December I flew from here to SA, SA to Europe and Europe back home.

Each flight was 2 12 hour flights

That's the number one deterrent for going to Australia, which I would love to do too. I'm guessing it's not cheap to fly anywhere from there either.

Nope, only Asia really is cheap. You've always got to be looking for a bargain
