Is Rafael fit?
I would love that line up, but it'll probably be 3 in the back with blind and shaw/rafael wingbacks :(

I also hope Rooney gets restored to upfront, and it will be first time we saw rooney/falcao partnership

If there was a must win -its this

We have hit a road block since boxing day - the luck and form in December has gone and we need to knuckle down and get back to winning ways.

QPR are awful bar a couple of good players. If we can stop Austin, we should be ok.

Unfortunlately our team on paper is not the same as on the field, with our attacking talent not to have a shot on target against southampton at home is criminal. We need to come out of the gates hard and fast and knock the stuffing out of QPR, take the fans out of the game early and we should pick up 3 points.

Hoping Falcao is back in the line up and going for a 1-3 away win.

De Gea
Rafael Jones Smalling Shaw
Blind Carrick
Mata Rooney Di Maria
Falcao

I would tend to go with this with Mata, Rooney and Di Maria chopping and changing.

I cant see anything but a 352 - maybe Carrick going into the Centre - the quicker we change from that the better in my opinion

I want to see Blind and Carrick in CM, and 4 in the back.

A bit too slow don't you think? Would have Herrera with any of those though

for me i would prefer herera plus blind/carrick as a combo in cm, starting both carrick and blind will end up slow and worse, long passes that probably get intercepted all the time. we need someone who can move the ball, forward in the middle and herera can defend too.

I do not believe we can play Carrick and Blind together in midfield. It would help our possession statistics as the ball would move around between the backs and midfielders not really going anywhere or doing anything productive other than pilling up the possession minutes. The Carrick/Blind combination would leave us no other way of getting through middle of the pitch than hoofing it long to a striker, 50 yard Hollywood passes from wing to wing or long passes through the center of the pitch hoping to cut the defense apart. Usually defenders just need to sit back a little and let these types of attack die on their own, every now and then a stroke of personal brilliance will get a goal but it is not a high success type offense.

IMO; starting four at the back from the OP is the way to go;

against QPR we should not need 3 CB, 2 WB and Carrick and Rooney playing defense. Jones and Smalling, with support from Carrick when the corner back go forward, should be more than capable of handling anything that QPR can throw at us and if they cannot then let's find that out and take steps to fix that problem. Against QPR we should be able to field just about any 11 players in any formation, but I see very little benefit spending any more time learning the in's and out's of this 3-5-2 formation.

If Rafael and Shaw are unavailable I would still play a straight back four; substituting Valencia, or Rojo, or Blind, or Blackett, or even the Tea Lady.

Hmm with van Persie (seemingly) injured, there's a chance Rooney will be played in his proper spot
especially with the "unconvincing" performance of Di Maria last match

anyway, with our performance last match, this is my preferred formation for now

De Gea
Rafael Mcnair Blind
Fellaini Carrick
Valencia Mata Shaw
Rooney Wilson

why Wilson, no Falcao? Pace, QPR's def is Rio Ferdinand, he won't be able to catch up with the boy
might replace Fellaini with Herrera should you want more creativity (and support to Mata)
The weakness in our left is still unsolved, though, courtesy of our lack of strong defender problem

ps.: I can't find a spot for Rojo, I prefer Mcnair than Rojo for the moment (since he seems to be the one with the luck atm)

I understand where your coming from regarding the pace but teams espeically at the lower end tend to sit alot deeper against us- taking away the pace element, Falcao's movement should cause Rio too much difficulty but only if the delivery is there.

No point predicting our line up these days: we're all (except 1) deluding ourselves, in the hope common (football) sense will be used by Van Gaal.

Herrera is a must, and 4 at... nah, nevermind!

What the dutch genius will select:

DE GEA

JONES SMALLING BLIND

VALENCIA[tab][/tab][tab][/tab][tab][/tab][tab][/tab][tab][/tab][tab][/tab]SHAW

CARRICK ROONEY
MATA

DI MARIA WILSON

What anyone who has watched 3-5-2, Rooney and Di Maria this year would pick:

DE GEA

VALENCIA JONES SMALLING SHAW

CARRICK

HERRERA DI MARIA

MATA

ROONEY FALCAO

If Herrera doesnt play this game I might actually give up

Three points are a must but I also think that we need a good performance. Our last few games have not exactly been a standard for how football should be played and one win in our last five games isn't what is expected from United. If these bad results and performances continue the players will start loosing faith in Van Gaal, after all blind faith in a reputation will only go so far, and if that happens the end of this season could become a worse disaster than last season.

Why?? Herrera has been hit and miss and even when he has played good I wouldn't say he was exceptional by any means. Personally I have been a little disappointed with him, maybe LvG has too.

Don't care if they are not as quick as Herrera. I loved him when he first started, but in the last few games he has run around like he is on a play ground. I absolutely don't trust him to start, because he keeps giving the ball away with unnecessary dum stuff.

you can only expect so much from a player coming off the bench for the last half hour every time. you can bench cristiano ronaldo and then criticize his performances.

start him regularly and you will get things out of him no other midfielder at the club can give you, just like we saw in the first few weeks of the season
