Play a back 4, play both Fellaini and Herrera, drop RVP. That'll do me.

Really hope Falcao is back for this one. RVP has been abysmal.

After a huge win at Arsenal less than 3 points here will be a nightmare.

It'll be interesting to see if RVP, Falcao or Wilson get the nod - RVP is so out of form its scary - Wilson has been fresh and sharp when he's come on this season.

At OT we should have far too much for this hull team - going for a 3-0 win

Really? I still cant believe their are people out there who would drop Fellaini on current form.

I can. In fact, I would. Same comments I made about him before Arsenal apply. The middle duo of Fellaini and Carrick struggled for pace against the gunners and got overrun. The midfield battle was comprehensively won by Arsenal (I know it counts for nothing now but it could've easily been a different story) and as a result, the defense and goal keeper were under way too much pressure for any form of comfort for huge portions of the game.

Wayne said that the midfield was selected for experience and fair enough. I do think with the absence of Blind, Carrick is extremely vital and should be playing. However, that would mean that despite Fellaini's improved performances, he should be dropped so we can get some creativity and energy in the midfield. In today's game, pace is a requirement and neither of them are quick - actually, they are both rather slow

Herrera in the reserves squad tonight with Evans. Hope that means he'll be in contention for Hull

Are you his lawyer or something. You seem to have some vested interest in him being picked in everyone's team as your only pre-match contribution.

You are perfectly right - you must be, as I agree with you!

OTOH I did initially miss-type that as:
'You are perfectly tight' which could also account for our agreeing since I am working on a bottle of wine!

Herrera on the scoresheet as a reserve team with the likes of Herrera, Adnan, Wilson and Evans prove much too strong for Blackburn who endured a hiding. 5-0 final score

Q: Now that we have a few centre backs available again (Smalling, Evans, Blackett, McNair), will LvG go back to 3 at the back? He claims he only switched to a back four because of injuries...

Id be really concerned about LVG if he ever believes our best football this year have come from the 3-5-2 system

He just likes it. Its almost like he finds excuses to revert to it.
Anyway its never a bad thing to be that tactically flexible. Keeps our opponents guessing. How cryptic was he in the arsenal prematch lol.

The trouble with Fellani for me is that he's a liability because there's always a good chance he's going to get caught out being too slow on the ball and give it away in a dangerous area. I seem to remember he made one fornicate up against Arsenal but got away with it. The other thing is that he's so clumsy that there's always a good chance he's going to give a free kick away in a dangerous area or a penalty. Ever time an opposing player has got the ball in our area and Fellani is nearby i panic like hell!He was lucky not to give away a penalty away against Aguero with his clumliness and he's so clumsy that when he fouls through he often doesn't even realise he's commited a foul! He's completely oblivious at times! Its probably all right playing him against teams like Hull but against the better teams he's going to get caught out probably sooner rather than later.

Lets not forget we have Stoke 3 days later. This might affect LVG's team selection.

Are we finally going to win 3 league games on the bounce for the first time in 2014?

Falcao could be back but Shaw is out for two or three weeks.

The win against Arsenal, while not pretty in terms of performance, was still hugely encouraging because of the determination and spirit our team showed, despite being outplayed at times by our opponents. As our manager himself said, there is still much room for improvement in our football, so we need to build on recent encouraging results and consolidate our position in the top four. The biggest question mark before this match will probably be who we will select up front, with RVP woefully out of form and Falcao back in contention for selection. LVG could even throw a curve ball and give Wilson a chance to repeat his debut heroics against Hull.

De Gea
Valencia McNair Smalling Rojo
Carrick
Fellaini Herrera
Di Maria
Rooney Falcao

looking at this starting 11 we could be playing 3-5-2 again. or maybe a diamond..?.. i hope it's not 3-5-2.

cant see how its a 3-5-2 unless carrick is in defence which wouldnt make sense with mcnair and blackett on the bench

think it's a diamond. at last
